Aftercare Advice
Our hair is 100% human hair, Eastern European & double drawn. With consistent aftercare it can last up-to 9 months.
- Please refrain from tying up your hair tightly for 7 days after your extensions are fitted. This is to ensure your scalp is not irritated by the extra weight plus added tension.
- A ‘Wet Brush’ is a perfect tool to use, to detangle extensions gently after washing the hair. The bristles are flexible and won’t catch on your extensions, un-like other brush types.
- Only use sulphate-free, silicone-free & paraben-free shampoo & conditioner. This is to ensure longevity. Sulphates strip out the colour on extensions, while silicone-based products build up on the hair, causing it to dry out and become straw-like. Please note, not all salon brands are free of these additives.
- Hair extensions must be dried off 100% and not left to naturally dry. This is to prevent matting at the root, which can happen if the hair is not dried off and/or brushed properly.
- Due to the elements and heat, overtime the extension colours will fade and go warmer (just like your natural hair does when coloured) To get longevity out of your hair extensions, we highly recommend using ‘Colour Wow Dream Coat’ Spray on the extensions after every single wash, before blow drying.
- Sunbeds will also have the same effect on hair extension colours, if left exposed. To prevent any changes, always wrap your hair in a black towel or wear a dark shower cap whilst using sunbeds.
- Tinted creams, tanning oil & sun cream are a big reason extension colours change or fade. Anything you put on your skin; your hair will absorb. When using any of the above liquid products, you must keep your hair tied up and not laying on skin that has the product applied.
- Swimming in chlorinated water will turn hair extensions an orange or green tone. For this reason, we strongly advise to tie your hair up and keep it out of pool water. In the case of an emergency whilst on holiday, please purchase a ‘Malibu C Hard Water Sachet’ treatment to remove discolouration promptly. These can be found on Amazon.
- Invest in a shower filter. If you live in a hard water area, you may want to try preventing discolouration caused by mineral build up by installing a filter on your shower. These filters are easy to install and can be found on Amazon for a small cost.
- While your extensions are new, please refrain from using purple shampoo. Hair extensions take to purple shampoo much quicker than regular hair and should be used sparingly and only when necessary. We recommend using a sulphate-free purple shampoo or a sulphate-free purple conditioning treatment
- Additional products we recommend: Detangle spray to use before brushing, heat protectant to use prior to blow drying and a natural and silicone-free hair oil or high-quality serum to be used after curling or straightening the hair.
- Doing a leave in high quality conditioning treatment once every 10 days is a must.
- We highly recommend plaiting your hair extensions and tying with a silk scrunchie prior to sleeping.
- For tape extensions, it is essential to have your refit every 7-8 weeks to maintain healthy natural hair
